Medicare Part D Notices Due Before Oct 15th

Notices are Due Soon!

Every October, group health plans are required to disclose to both U.S. CMS and to Medicare Part D eligible individuals on their plan whether the health plan’s prescription drug coverage is creditable. This is important for Medicare beneficiaries to be able to make good decisions regarding their current and future prescription drug coverage.

Notices are due prior to October 15th. However, please note that if you have already furnished a notice to an individual (within the last 12 months of the deadline, perhaps at Open Enrollment), there is no need to re-notify that individual.

  1. Employers should confirm whether the company health plans’ prescription drug coverage is creditable or non-creditable.
  2. Furnish the notices to CMS and to Medicare Part D eligible individuals, using CMS’s model notices if needed to do so. Remember due date is Oct. 15th!
